Take Home Pay Check

in Cutting tax
Hi all
At the end of each tax year I take my pay slips and tally up my:
PAY
INCOME TAX
NATIONAL INSURANCE
I then check this against an online take home pay calculator:
http://www.thesalarycalculator.co.uk/salary.php
Then if I believe I have paid too much tax I write a letter and claim it back.
This year however the figures are slightly strange. My payslips compared to the online calculator makes it looks like I have £694 too much income tax but £530 too little national insurance.
Should I claim the £164 difference back?
Thanks

Thanks
But ..... on what basis would you be claiming it back?
First of all you need to rationalise where the 'error(s)' has occurred. The P60 is the more sensible base to work from - as that should contain the figures your employer is submitting to HMRC.
And a check against another calculator might not go amiss :-

Thanks Mikeyorks that calculator seems much better.
Yes I'll have to get my P60 from my employer0
