Lloyds TSB loan - refusal to accept BT?!!

OH tried to get the necessary info on his loan from Lloyds TSB yesterday so that we could BT it onto Egg - however they said that the only way they would accept payments is over the counter in a branch. Are they having a laugh?? And can they withold this info from him about his own finances???
I'm not too concerned because I have BT-ed the money into my current account and so will be hading in a big fat cheque to Lloyds at the end of the month - but I think the principle of denying you the opportunity to make electronic payments is outrageous.

if it is in the terms and conditions, then they can do whatever they like? but that doesnt sound right?
i guess if the loan was set-up to be paid by monthly direct debit only - they will not be geared up to accept debit card payments to settle the loan?
probably just another tactic to get you into the branch so they can try to sell you Life Insurance or something pointless and expensive (if its Lloyds then it will definitely be expensive!! !they are such rip-off merchants!)0 -
