Looking for advice on digital camera

Hello,
I want to get a digital camera but is mightily confused by all the specs & stuff out there. Obviously I wanna get it for as cheap as possible, preferably under £50, or up to £80 or so. I just want something quite good, simple to operate with nice picture quality that will last me for a while. Anyone know of a good, bargainous model I can check out?
(preferably with a student discount
)
thanks.

Good quality and Low price never come in same digital camera.
However if you see a high price quality camera going for half price, thats not to leave.
Last time I saw one of those were in Argos, I believe they always have camera's from old cataloge with high specs and low price. So check for the clearance stock first.
My advice if you want to fall in love with your picture.
* Go for a camera that comes with a bigger lens
* Stick to Kodak, Cannon, Sony, Samsung, Olympus, Fuji
* A big lens 2 MP camera gives better result than 6MP tiny lens camera.
Have a look ate this lot.

Another thing to notice, Optical Zoom (Cameras with Optical zoom are usually with very good lens)0 -
I personally dont rate the Sony cameras, I have an S40 (tesco r+r) and it is too basic, 3x optical zoom 4mp.
A decent camera will last you longer than a cheap camera becasue you will want to get better photos than it is capable of.
go to Jessops, have a feel of them see if they are comfortable to hold and a nice weight, get them to show you the features and expalin the advantages of them. You will be able to buy last years model at Jessops for less than half the current model, but dont buy it come home and search the web for the best price. test drive the camera see if it is what you want just dont go like everyone else and the highest mp is what you want 4mp is fine on a good camera with a good lense for great A4 prints I have printed one at A1 with some pixleisation.0 -
I know Fuji sell refurbished camera's on their website that are pretty cheap - the odd bargain to be had2p off is still 2p off!0

You can get a Canon Powershot A410 here for £84 including postage. It's 'PC Advisor's' best buy for budger digital cameras this month (and they have it at £139.)
Make sure you click on the Amazon box on the right hand side and not the Pixmania box - which no doubt adds postage.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
