Just a quickie, and probably a silly question.... I have searched but couldn't find the answer!
I know having a joint acc/ mortgage becomes a financial link between two people, but does marriage? As most of you probably know, my OH can only be described as pants with money, and while I love him and want to marry him, I do not want ANY financial links to him....
Cheers

Hi Sarah, i'm not sure if just having the same address makes you linked? I'm guessing the jnt acc and mortgage would be enough though? Sorry - not much help was i? :rolleyes:One step at a time

Actually you were, I hadn't thought about the address...'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0

Joint address no longer makes you financially linked for the purposes of credit scoring. You have to have some financial connection - a joint bank account or mortgage. Marriage alone will not create such a link.
See Martin's guide here:Marriage doesn't hurt, joint finances does.
Simply marrying or living with someone with a bad credit score shouldn't impact your finances, as third-party data (i.e. someone else's info) doesn't appear on your file.
Yet if you're 'financially linked' in any product, it can have an impact. Even just a joint bills account will mean you are co-scored. If one partner has a poor history, keep your finances rigidly separate, and it should maintain access to good credit for the other.poppy100 -
I once had a financial link with my ex with Equifax.
The only reason I can think of was coz I named her on my car insurance.

Links confuse me, I think I'm linked to my mum (we have a joint current account) and she's linked to my dad (mortgage etc) but am I linked to my dad.
