Good idea or bad idea? Selling artwork?

Options
Does anyone think that making some extra cash by selling artwork on Ebay is a viable option? I have sold a few bits in the past (plus had one stolen ) but nothing in years.

I don't have the time to dedicate to selling actual pieces so would sell high quality prints. I don't expect much for them, being a complete nobody in the world of art. :rotfl:

But does anyone think this could be a viable method? There must be thousands of struggling artists trying to flog their stuff on Ebay!

Here is a link to some of my work, might help gauge whether you think it's a good idea. LINK

PLEASE NOTE I'm not posting a site to try and sell anything, it is just my little personal website and none of the work on there is for sale and I am not advertising any services!!! If there is an issue please tell me and I will remove the link.

    Hello

I've not had any personal experience but I'd say it would be pretty hard to sell artwork on ebay and make much money, mostly because there are a lot of people selling various art and it is hard for people to appreciate the individual-ness of what you have made.

I see a few artists selling at car boot sales and the obvious craft/summer fetes, might be worth a try if you've not done so already.

    Why don't you try Etsy?

It's an American site but anyone can sell and buy. There are all different kinds of things for sell on there including artwork. I've just put my jewellery on there (see my profile for a link;))

There are lots of people looking for trendy prints and canvas' on eBay...and they still don't sell for much.

Locally we have a art/crafts market...see quite a few artists there selling from traditional to graffiti style artists. Might be worth thinking about?

i agree with wileycat, i sell personalised prints on ebay and although they sell i make very little profit, have you sold many things on etsy is it an auction or do you sell at a set price
