thats not that expesive you know - from cake shops and wedding shoes they are more like £350!!

You could go for one where they are just silver (well, not sparkly). You could always glam up with some of the self stick diamontes you can buy for card making.
This one is £14 including postage (from usa) and they can do most letters.

As your initials are not really difficult I would think it is not impossible to make it youself. you need a little router type thing. (or a milling bit for a drill)
If I was going to do this I would make it out of MDF (or something like it) paint it nicely and then stick on the sparkly stuff.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -

you can make them using run outs (icing) you need to draw the letters will find instructions and post if you know anybody that does cake decorating they will do them for you
