Bankrupts be Avon Reps

Options
my wife was apporached by an Avon team leader and she is thinking about becoming a rep. I am worried that as its a business that she wont be allowed or punished if she took part?

Can she be a rep while bankrupt?

Yes, definitely. She just needs to register as self-employed with HMRC within 3 months and file a self-assessment every year.
:jAvon Rep since C18 2008 (Sales Leader since C7 2009) and Usborne Rep since March 2008:j

but she has just signed a credit agreement and also I beleive that you cannot form a business or trade unless it was in a name that was included in the bankruptcy.

We are very new to this and dont want to get hit with BRO or other sanctions because we broke the rules due to ignorance.

How much was the credit agreement for? under £500 you dont have to inform the company...over £500 then you have to tell your bankrupt...either way she'll still be able to do without any probs

As long as she doesn't run the credit up to £500 that is fine. If they don't do a credit check thats their problem.

I sold (or rather didn't sell) Avon years ago and don't remember signing a credit agreement.

To be honest I'd rather she waited until discharge to do this. As if we were to remain "squeeky clean" I would have to report her takings to DWP as I will be a benefit claimant. I am not willing to omit that kind of information.

  • With my experience of selling avon, there will be no earnings to declare! Actually Avon was one of the people named in my BR :rotfl::rotfl:

I agree with you dreamcatcher - they were on my credit report for 6 years - can't remember if I had a CCJ or not.
