Unfortunately I cannot help but I'm going to keep my eye on this thread as we too could not believe the quotes we received! Surely someone somewhere must do them cheaper?

  • We are in the same posotion - have you tried Hillarys Blinds, clicky.

When I spoke to them earlier today she said that they are doing a nationwide offer - £350 for a conservatory, cannot remember if that was for the lot or per side. There were conditions, set size and certain styles etc.

    Worth a go.

dont know what you want the blinds for, whether its so people cant look in, or is it to stop the glare of the sun

if its just to stop glare, then voile strung across the roof works well - gives it a tented/marquee feel, and is alot cheaper than having blinds made

if its a new conservatory, im suprised it didnt come with solar reflective glass, as although you pay a minimal amount for it, it really cuts down on the need for blinds, etc.

Its a old conservatory and its to stop the sun glare
  • An average Victorian conservatory should cost from your local specialist £1400 for both the roof and the sides. This is with pleated blinds on the roof and vertical or rollers on the sides. The pleated blinds come with a solar reflective backing, go for the 'Energy Saver' fabrics from shading solutions, dont look great in samples but they work better than any others. Lean to type conservatories should be considerably cheaper as the blinds are easier to produce and to fit. Try getting a quote from thomas sanderson and then any other quote you get will seem very reasonable.
If you have a PVC conservatory always check your guarantee with your conservatory supplier, screwing blinds up may harm your warranty. If this is the case the only blinds you can have are 'perfect fit' blinds by louvolite they involve absolutely no adhesive or screws but a clever fixing system for each window panel, not cheap but an excellent product.
  • My friend found the cost of blinds was the same as having the new reflective glass put in, so she did that instead. Might be worth looking into

Hi, we have a conservatory (came with the house) and the blinds are already there, but they are the normal roller blinds which you can get anywhere, (fitted on the straight windows) you'll just have to find the right width to fit (some can be cut to size) i would choose a pale colour as they will fade. you could have the slatted blinds on the angled panes of glass.

What about going to ikea to get some wooden blinds, they do loads of different sizes. Thats what I may do as my conservatory has no blinds and the bloke at the bottom of the garden can see me stuffing my face. HaHa :o
