Virgin HD Installation offer

The website states that if you choose the XL TV package with a V+HD box, the installation fee is only £49. (all other packages £99)

I was told by Virgin themselves that if you initially sign up with XL TV package, the install price will be £49, but at any time from installation, you can reduce to M or L with no surcharges

Offer ends 30/04/09

If you downgraded you would have to pay £5 month for the V+ service, its only free with XL.

The V+ box has been available for as little as £35 and in some cases completely free! All depends on what package you are on at the moment and how good your negotiating skills are over the phone.

I'm sure this is a really thick question, but what channels can you watch with Virgin? Is it all the HD channels (eg the Sky and BBC ones), or is it just movies? I dont really get this, I dont think.

  • If your a existing customer say you want ot cancel to go to Sky as they have the Sky + box where you can record onto it and is free they will soon say they have the same type box and they can do it for free. Don't pay for it to be installed.
  • i emailed Richard Branson i found his email address on google,i told him i am not happy with virgin media and the customer service either,i got a reply and was told it would be forwarded to the correct department, next day i got another email saying i will get a call, few hours later i had a call,to cut a long story short they sent out a principal engineer out to test my line,he then booked a complete re fit of the cables from my house to the green box,i also got a second V+ box installed for just £40 and i do not pay a fee for rental each month.i am well happy the service loads better as the new cable they fitted is a nice thick one and the V+ box in my room is a seperate cable and does not split from the main one coming into the house....if anyone is interested i can post the email addresss if thats ok on here ...let me know ..

However they do have a reasonable amount of HD VOD content, and the upscaler on the V+ box is very good (so it can make SD content look better than it might with some TV's own internal upscaling).

:confused:Virgin Media is an American owned cable tv company and has nowt to do with Virgin Group. They bought Virgin Mobile off of RB and the rights to use the Virgin name, then applied it to their Cable TV Operation.

Same as Virgin Vie - Nothing to do with Virgin Group anymore. He's selling his companies to fund Virgin Galactic.

  • We had V+ for over a year. It's rubbish, personal opinion.

    There's only one HD channel!

It's ok saying that you can get all this on demand stuff but there are two problems I see with that.

    1. It only works 1 out of 10 times. If you then call them to complain then you're on the phone for ages. When you finally get through to someone if it's after a certain time then they're on the other side of the world, you can't hear them properly and then all they tell you to do is the old turn the box off, remove the card. If this doesn't fix the problem then they say they'll raise a problem with the technical team who will call you back within 3 days. Pathetic.

    2. It's all well and good promoting on demand but I want to watch TV in the here and now. Not stuff that's been on weeks or months ago.

We now have Sky Plus HD and I can't fault it. Yeah it was nice to be able to watch the old Dr Who's for my son but we can do that on iPlayer or just buy the DVD's.
