Where are the hours?

I'm fed up of looking at jobs websites. You just can't find the right hours let alone jobs. I have to be here to take and pick up my daughter at school 9.00-3.00. The only jobs I could find were for teachers, which I'm not qualified at all to do nor would I want to. I'm doing open uni courses, coming close to the end of one. Working towards an open degree. The jobs I've been looking at are simple cleaning ones, I looked into a cleaning job at hospitals but they didn't have the right hours. I don't want to work in a shop again if I can help it, they don't have any jobs available like that anyway, I couldn't stand working with the public again it drives me insane.

I know I'd enjoy a cleaning job as I'm quite meticulous with the cleanliness of shops/food place etc I'd love to be an environmental health inspector but I don't think I'd be able to get the right qualifications for it :o I'm hopeless at maths for a start and you have to be good at that. Anyway, I wanted a rant.

Oh and if anyone want's any cleaning done I'll do it 16 hours a week in Manchester 11o'clock til 2pm would be ideal ! :D

  • Sadly very few companies want cleaners in 11-2

Cleaners are normally a morning or evening job. There would be no point in cleaning an office during the day when its still getting dirty etc

My work place have a cleaner, whos just started, he does evening though bout 6 - 9

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it ....
  • I know it's a right pain in the bum. Not just offices though, clubs or something they don't open while late? If anyone sees any let us know. I'm looking on the net now. I wouldn't mind working in a charity shop just can't find any at the moment, only the Godforsaken door to door and street mithering ones. I've done the door to door and it was all a pile of doo doo. I didn't like it and because I'm to much of an honest person i.e don't talk a load of tripe I rarely made any money at all!
  • I wouldn't mind that actually.. I'm not mad keen on going through town at night as the buses near me go to every half hour after about 7 or 8. I may have to keep my eye out for that though. Just means finding a child minder/club/placement thingy for little one

What about becoming a house cleaner? That way you would be working when the householder is at work. So probably hours to suit. One of my neighbours works for Molly Maid. I know because she has a car from them. Know idea what they are like to work for but they cannot be the only company doing this. Or go on your own. Maybe advertise in a local paper?
  • Trouble with the house cleaning ones is you normally need a car. If I advertised in the paper I wouldn't be guaranteed a set amount of hours either, I'm looking for 16 hours at the moment. I'll look into the Molly maid thing though might point me to other companies like it. Cheers

I believe Molly Maid may be a franchise organisation.
Are there other parents who drop off/pick up children at the same time who would be interested in working with you? Do they know of any opportunities?

What about being a dinner lady, (sorry if you want a break from children) and you would get school holidays off.

You could do leaflet distribution or something similar. My local Estate Agents are always looking for them and you could work the hours you want then.
