fabric conditioner stickiness

hi all,
I use cheap supermarket fabric conditioner which is fine usually but when a jacket with a furry edged hood was washed it left the fur feeling sticky with like a residue. I put it in again for a rinse but still it feels a bit sticky. Can anyone advise how to get rid of that and make the fur all soft and fluffy again?
Many thanks

  • I wouldnt necessarily say its an antidote, but there have been lots of recommendations on here for using vinegar as a fabric softener. We use it all the time I add some essential oil for a nice smell, it might work, you never know... so add the vinegar to the dispenser drawer

Many thanks frankie1star, I'd seen a few posts about using vinegar and was wondering about trying it. I looked in Sainsburys for vinegar today, I guess it's not the cheap sub 20p stuff is it? I was thinking about getting some for cleaning etc as I hate the stuff on chips etc.

Try washing it again but don't use any fabric softener. If I know I'll be using the tumble drier (if its raining etc) I don't use fabric softener. Things still smell nice and clean and the upside is that towels are more absorbant, and window-cleaning cloths don't leave streaks over the windows.
