Really Cheap mp3 players

I just came accross these dead cheap mp3 players. They say they are refurbished ones, but for this price these look good for just messing about with. I got one to use at the gym, and my sister took one on holiday in case it got nicked or damaged - they are almost disposable at these prices!! :cool:

You can get a reburbished 2GB philips one from HERE for £45.99 plus p&p.I bought the 20GB one from them when they where doing the £75 deal and have had no probs at all.

I want to buy an MP3 player butI'm unsure what size I need.
I don't want to download music, I intend to download audio books. Now, if a book is 2 hours 30 mins long, how many can I get onto a 1gig size player?

I reckon you'll get about 4 ish on a 1GB mp3.This is a very rough guess worked out with the help of a can of fosters.:)

You'll get about 200 songs on a 1gb mp3 player times by 3 minutes each = 600 minutes, divided by 150 minutes each book = 4 books.

I'm sure you'll get a proper real answer and not a ish answer.Am I making sense......I thought not...another tin of fosters I think.:D

At good quality encoding levels (won't tell the difference with headphones or cheap portable players) with music you will get 1 minute for each Mb. Therefore a 1000 minutes on a 1Gb player or 16 hours (240 songs if they're 4 minutes each). Audio books don't need to be encoded at this level and you can halve the encoding to 64kbit (on MP3) and get 32 hours. You can go lower but then you will hear the differrence.
For £5 differrence get the 1Gb and put some music on it - it's easy to copy your CDs to MP3s
