I wanna Advice on Iron-on Transfers

After a quick search on ebay ive decided that im not going to pay a twenty quid for a t-shirt that I could make for less myself
Ive got the templates and an iron (I do have an iron apparently
) . I just need advice on the rest of it. Which paper would be best to use (Amazon have Epson A4 Inkjet Transfers (10 Sheets) for 8.99 which is the cheapest ive found it, but is there better paper out there). I have a Cannon ip1500, would be this ok for transfer printing.
When transfering the template to the T shirt how long should I iron it for?
Thanks

I've made quite a lot of t shirts with trnasfers on them for various family and charity events. As long as your printer prints photgraphs it should take transfer paper with no problems and as for paper I just use the cheapest I can find. I used the Epson paper last year for my Race for Life t-shirt and it was fine.
There are instructions inside the paper of transfer paper but basically if you have a steam iron make sure there is no water in it. Heat the iron to the highest setting. Make sure it is really hot.
Put a pillowcase over your ironing surface
Put t-shirt rightside up on the pillow case.
Position transfer rightside down on the t-shirt.
Starting in one of the top corners place iron on the transfer and applying pressure hold the iron in place for 15/20 seconds, wiggling it gently.
Working on a diagonal repeat across the whole of the transfer.
Make sure you pay particular attention to the edges of the transfer, if you don't seal them your transfer will lift.
Leave a few minutes and when transfer has cooled slightly slowly peel the backing paper off.
If your image doesn't fill the whole of the transfer sheet cut round it leaving a few mm's of edge otherwise the excess white shows on the t-shirt.
Don't forget it is not just t-shirts you can use. My nephew has Power Rangers pillowcases and my nieces have whoever their latest pop icon is on pillowcases, jeans, duvet covers.0
