I once met Alan at a car boot sale in Milton Keynes.
He bought a home-made fruit cake from me.He's even smaller in real-life but terribly polite.He gave me some excellent advice about potting on.I think he should be knighted.0 -

My sister wrote to him c/o the BBC (or ITV, whichever channel he works for) as our little neice (8 yrs old) was a huge fan and it was her birthday coming up. He wrote a lovely letter back to my neice with a few packs of seeds in as a gift. He was really lovely.0
