half slip for hipster skirt?

sorry cant find the exact part of forum for this one!
I have a couple of skirts that instead of coming from the waist are more like ones that come from the hip. One of these is made of really cheap cotton and youngsters may get away with it but I need something to cover up my pants! however my elasticated half slips are no good as there is about 2 inches of slip showing before the skirt starts. Just been round my local shops and am hard pressed even to find a half slip-only john lewis had just one!-. In the end I have resorted to buying a yard of that linign stuff and going to attempt to make my own either seperate or somehow attached to my skirt but no idea where to start. Any ideas anyone please?

I'd use the skirt as your basic pattern and cut out two pieces (one back/one front) but make sure that it's slightly wider (for side seams) and slightly longer (hem for the bottom/and top).
Then catch stitch it around the inside of the top of the skirt 'waistband' (hipband!). Just make sure that it doesn't show below the hem of the skirt.
Good luck!0 -
am going to give it a whirl. will let you know how I got on!0
