Removing nappy cream from a sofa

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but you lot seem to know about everything so I thought I'd try here first.
My lovely daughter has smeared nappy rash cream ALL OVER our sofa. It has washable covers, and I have put them through a normal wash but the cream hasn't come out. I guess cos it's not water soluble.
Has anyone any suggestions as to how I can get it off??
Thank-you!

Oh bet you were over-joyed at the sight of your sofa!
I wondered if soaking the covers in any of those products that are designed to soak real nappies in (eg Napisan, most chemists sell it) would work?0 -
Been there - got the t-shirt
I found wiping the settee down with the wet wipes worked! Infact the wet wipes worked wonders on most stains!

Hi, thanks for the replies.
I'll try the wet wipes first as I've got loads of them in the house don't know why I didn't think of that myself!!). Might try Napisan later.
It'll teach me not to leave my daughter 'playing quietly' whilst I'm 'playing' on this site!!0 -
did it work? i have a cushion covered smeared in sudocrem from 3 yr old amusing himself.0

my delighful monster when she was a baby smeared a whole pot of sudocream on the carpet >:(
i tried everything and runied the carpet in the process and it still hadnt come out >:( until someone just quietly said what about washing up liquid (the only thing i hadnt tried ???) as it cuts through the grease on your pots and pans i thought it might work low and behold it didbut still needed a new carpet anyway as i had stretched it all using a very stiff old fashioned scrubbing brush

it is when you think about it, i had tried really harsh cleaning stuff as well :-/ i felt really stupid after hearing the words 'washing up liquid' from my old next door neighbour ::)0 -
just rubbed it with some, its def coming off.
thanks0 -
I used wet wipes to get the worst of it off, then put the covers through a wash with Vanish, that got rid of the rest of it.
I'll try the washing-up liquid idea next time0 -
Washing up liquid is definately the best for any oily or greasy stains. Recommended to me after I'd dripped melted butter down my top that just wouldn't wash out.
I use napisan alot for soaking clothes, really good for food stains, particularly chocolate and tomato - BUT be careful what you do soak as it is not compatible with some fabrics, and don't leave them to soak too long either.0
