Not too sure where I should post this.
My mother has an account with Kays catalouge, and recently a Widescreen TV that she had through
Kays devloped a fault (after 5yrs).
They arranged for this to be collected, and to try and repair - they didnt leave a replacement TV.
After 3weeks they have now said that its impossible to repair.
From an insurance point of view, Kays have stated that she can have either £540 as compensation to put towards another
TV from the catalouge OR £300 cash.
Can they actually do this, offer a lesser value for cash, as a decent TV in here catalougue costs around £700 + Stand,
where as Argos are doing really good deals inc stand & speakers.
Hope someone can advise me on if they are able to offer the lesser value for cash.
Thanks
Andi

Presumably your mum took out a long term insurance on the TV otherwise the guarantee must have been for a long period?
If they are offering £540 as compensation towards another TV i would snap their hands off.
If you look at the difference, she has had the TV for 5 years at a cost of £2.66 (60 months) per month and
she is going to get a brand new TV with todays technology, , its a no brainer really. Use the old stand off the old telly or just buy a cheaper stand from somewhere else.
The £300 would get her a basic TV from Argos inc stand but at what quality?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
