Having spent two hours researching & setting up a weekend break with Expedia.com I was told they do not accept Switch or Maestro cards for payment if the itinery includes flights!!
Could anyone explain why ,surely a switch card is as good as cash.

Hi Paul,
I'm not sure why a company would take credit cards but not Maestro or Switch - maybe something to do with the admin charges they have to pay - perhaps others MSEers could advise you better on this. Their website states: "Switch can be accepted for most products. Due to airline restrictions, there are some package holidays and flight only reservations where Switch cannot be accepted."
However, I would personally not feel comfortable giving my Switch info over the internet, even on a secure site. If I pay over the net with my credit card, at least I know that if something goes wrong I can refuse to pay my credit card company for that transaction and get them to sort it out with the merchant for me. If I were to use my Switch to transact, once the money is gone from my account I would hate to have to argue my case with the bank as I know I probably wouldn't get anywhere.0
