I think the 50 acres keeps you in a town of your own:)

Having read most of the posts i would say yes it is possible, BUT it depends where they want to buy.

Where i live you can a buy a New 4 bed detached, fair size for a new build too for 129k. You can buy my house for 80k. Now i am not a proud person and i won't be hung by bricks and mortar, all i can say is thank god its an ol' mining village, less than 5 miles away properties are 20k to 40k more expensive for the same type of build i live in . I have a 3 bed detached with large front and back garden. I bought it knowing full well there is plenty of room to extned and still have large garden.

I also owned in a nice area of town. Paid a fortune for the property and it was over run with crime because, the crooked folk thought they would have better pickings almost on a daily basis you heard of someone having something stolen.
So please don't condemn me for living in a village that has been classed a deprived, quite frankly i am over the moon about it as my mortgage is cheap and we can afford to have a life. I did grow up in this village which does help, and i can honestly say the crime is not bad at all. At least i can walk down the streets and people aren't too toffee nosed to say hello as they pass! Now that is something i did not get living in my over priced house in town where the ten bobbers thought they were better human beings for being ripped off????
You can touch the dust but please don't write in it !

Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?

Thats another oddity, in the south east villages are about the most desirable & expensive places to live (leaving London out of the picture - but I wouldn't live there for free:eek:).

Damn, well I guess your right, but my post tried to be bullish, but I guess it's not working so as I said in the other thread, I'm going back to the dark side.:D

All this is extremely narrow minded and matter of fact.

Yes, people, in some areas of the country, would find it possible on low wages to find a place under 100k.

However, this is very much like someone saying "if you don't like the price of petrol, get a bike".

There are so many other factors involved in buying property. Key things such as location. It's no good being able to afford a property on your low wages if its 50 miles from your job....as give up the job and you can't get the property, keep the job, and suddenly your spening thousands a year commuting which you don't have.

It's a nice classic case of "well, actually, you can do x and y" without looking at any of the other factors.

Just like the car vs bike argument, or car vs public transport argument. Ok if everythings on your doorstep, but hopeless if you need to work or go anywhere else.

Quality over quantity. I think the positioning in the landscape of the tress and the lake in front and the gentle rise of the landscape is just beautiful TBH the house isn't so much for me, but my DH would love it.

How big's your one's garden? I think in truth, mine is in some respects, bigger ;)

Hey! Native Wulfrunian here! There is nothing wrong with my home town (well not much......:rotfl:)

Patshull (pronounced Pats-all) Hall has in the past been an orthopaedic hospital. So should be OK for an old people's home.
