Digital Camera for a 14 Year Old?

My daughter wants a digital camera for her forthcoming 14th birthday. Great! At least I know what to get her!
My dilemma is which camera to choose. I have a wonderful one, a Sony Cybershot DSC P73, which I bought on ebay for just £13 and I can't fault it. However, Madam of course wants something smaller and I can't afford the up to date equivilant of my Sony.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a user-friendly, small camera which is both trendy and fairly solid (we are good at dropping things on the tiled kitchen floor here!) please? My budget is only about £50 or so I'm afraid, but that said all she wants is to take snapshots of friends and pets and either print them off of the computer (running Vista Basic, if that helps), or to have pictures printed out at the supermarket.
Thank you.

Thank you - for my part I would far rather quality than a small size of camera and I am sure that Madam will appreciate that too, albeit after a little convincing. I'm amazed that a Canon would be in that price range and will take a look - much obliged.

My son has the silver version of this:

At £56 it's a fantastic little camera - it has 5x optical zoom which is about the highest you can get on a compact camera, image stabilization, face detection, fits nicely in his pocket and he gets great photos from it (and he's only 8)!xxx Nikki xxx0
