Health and Safety Course

My husband a builder is self employed and finding it difficult in getting work. He would like to study for the NEBOSH diploma for Health and Safety in the hope that it might help him in finding employment. Are there any grants out there that would help him fund this course.
At the moment we have no money coming in and his next step is to visit the job centre on Monday.
Many thanks in advance.

If he is CITB registered and has an apprentice or someone working with him that he pays [losc], complete the levy form [which means he will still be under the levy threshold but identified as an employer and not a sole trader]...
Then he can claim for attendance on a training plan and an achievement grant. Will be upwards of £1k.0 -
There is a threat on here about the great grants hunt or something...http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1004476 have a search through that.

If he hasn't completed any h&s courses before the diploma may be a bit daunting. He may find either the general cert or the construction cert a better place to start then consider the diploma or NVQ4.
