how to get an antique valued locally?

Options
Can i pick your brains with regards to getting a family antique valued?
where would i go (im in co.down) i have no idea how much it might be worth and i dont want to get ripped off incase it is worth a bit!!!
Also it is partly made out of ivory and has a thick layer of dust covering it...would i be better to leave it like this incase cleaning it damages it?
TIA Laura.
will let you all know if David Dickenson wants to give me a fortune ;) haha.

  • Pity it wasn't this time last year when the Antiques Roadshow was here - they won't be back til next year!

William Montgomery in Greyabbey is the Sotheby's representative for N Ireland - if it's a high end antique. Otherwise Ross's auctions in the city centre.

I'd use a soft paintbrush to take the worst of the dust off - with great care!
  • thats great! thanks for the info......will get myself a little brush asap!
