Capital one?

I've told them I am having a bit of trouble making the payments, they sent me out an income and expenditure which I filled in and returned. They reply with they want proof of earning, they want my last 4 weekly payslips plus details of all benefits etc we receive. We don't have all that information, no other creditor has ever asked for this much info, is this normal?

Hi nirelandguy - it isn't, usually, normal for a creditor to require so much info - but Capital1 seem to be doing this a lot recently

Personally, I would give CAB a quick ring as it sounds excessive, and unreasonable, to me.

They can NOT take 'benefits' into account as income.

Hillesden asked me to fill in an Income & Expenditure form and upply payslips as proff of income. I sent them my own SOA and told them that I wasn't prepared to send payslips due to the amount of sensitive information on them.

They agreed my proposed payment without seeing the payslips.

Crap One asked me how much my mortgage payments were and how much equity I had in my house also for bank statements. I refused to send this info.

I did the same as Meerkat and sent my own income/expenditure form, declined to send statements....and they renewed my agreement. National Debtline advised me that it was up to me whether I sent them any financial info' or not.

That's weird I've been on benefits for some time and they seem to accept that as income cos I'm still paying them and the Halifax for monthly debts on reduced payment plans which they force me to up every 6 months and even every 3 months at one time.
Currently filling in income and expenditure form for Capital one and they are rather nosey on the form. Also there isn't any entry stating Incapacity benefit which is what I'm on just "Any other income" which is the section I have to fill in. Bizarre:mad:

You don't have to supply this info to Cap One, they cannot demand it, they are just being nosey. Bearing in mind that this paperwork gets pushed around several different departments, I personally would not send payslips, bank statements, benefit letters or anything else containing personal information. The income and expenditure form is sufficient for their needs and in my experience with them, as long as you make regular payments, they are quite reasonable to deal with.

They like to know this so that if you stop paying them and they have to take you to court, they can argue that you have "assets" which you can sell in order to repay your debt. One of the few scenarios in which negative equity is actually useful! :D

They didn't ask me for any of this info when I arranged a lower repayment with them (£10 a month), and I didn't have to fill out an income and expenditure either. These companies annoy me when they start with all this, why can't they accept that you're having difficulties and need some help? Why would you make that up, it doesn't get you anywhere, you'll still have to pay the same amount back, just over a longer period.
