conzey, I don't think that they ever say that you can try the Listings even when you can. You could email them to ask before submitting the Listing if you like. There's definitely a chance that the Listing wouldn't be acceptable as well, it depends on why they said no to the Markets application. One common way for a Listing to be OK and Markets not is debt consolidation, because Markets assumes that the debt won't be repaid with the new loan. Listings also have generally less strict requirements.

jaymeekae, I think they just ask to speak to you, to confirm that you're known there or were at past places. They could ask for more if they think it's necessary but most employers wouldn't say much more than that without asking you first, because of privacy laws.

Zopa only does quotation searches, not application searches, until you're actually accepted and take the loan, so trying Zopa first will have as close to no effect as it's possible to have unless your application is accepted. It's a very consumer-friendly approach.

Good to hear. You'll probably be asked what market you were allocated to so you might as well say that as well.

    H James,

Did you ever go through and try a listing? I am in the same boat as you - was rejected through the markets, but had applied through the listings.

    Thanks!

Yes. For markets Zopa's credit reference agency didn't have enough history for me because I have a very old bank account and credit card that don't report to CRAs. No problem with the listing.

Thats good - thanks for getting back to me. I've got a listing live at the moment - just the fear of it being pulled now!

I have applied for a Zopa loan and it is currently 'in review' I want to cancel it though as I did not realise what I was doing - thought it was a quote !!! Stupid I know. Can I cancel it on the site ?

I have mailed them but as yet, no reply.

    Very worried.

Hi, I cancelled my request with them by email. It didn't take long at all - maybe a day or two. I suppose it has been bank holiday so nobody would have been in to see your request until today.

I don't think there's a facility to cancel on the website.

    Please don't worry.

Teachertim, no need to worry. Even if you applied and had the money sent to you there is still a 14 day cancellation period from time of application.
