Poor credit? Mortgage?

Hi all,
I had some porblems in 2002 when I lost my job and had to arrange a payment scheme through CCCS for a mail order account, a credit card and a bank loan which totalled around £5000. When we sold our house and moved in army housing in Oct 2006, we had some equity thanks to house price increases so paid it all off in one go.
I just looked at my credit report and it does indeed show as all being settled in Oct 2006 and everything since has been paid on time so lots og green circles between then and now!
So, we now want to buy another house but I am concerned that the problems of 2002-2006 are still showing on the credit report. Will they affect our ability to get a mortgage? Does this mean I have a "poor" credit rating, despite having been a good debtor for nearly three years?
Sorry for the long post but I'm too scared to apply for a mortgage in case I get rejected, we have a good 40% deposit so taht shouldn't give cause for rejection but I will die if I get refused a mortgage!!

Hi there
If you go to Go Direct and fill in the online form an adviser will get back to you free of charge. I have various defaults on my file from as recent as oct 2008 and we have secured a fixed deal of 6% with a 25% deposit. You will have no probs with a deposit that size.
good luck0 -

bossdog if you're worried seek advice, try and get referred to a quality adviser by friends or family.....from personal experience forces guys are usually a joy to deal with and a source of good business if a job is well done so you should be much in demand. (you fellas allways seem to do what you say you will when you say will.......brilliant)
Oh and from the info you have posted I don't see you having too many issues, really strong chance of "high street" at that amount of lending.

Hiya
Need some advice please regarding applying for mortgages...15 years ago my ex husband and i applied for a mortgage and were sucessful, we since split up and that was 8 years ago and we are still not divorced ,my name remains on the mortgage with his but he knows i want nothing to do with the house, the problem is we ran up alot of debt toghter and basically i ran away from it all(not proud of that but i was very young) anyway i changed my name back to my maiden name and double barrelled it with my married name(not by deed poll) and get credit no problem actually i think i have quite good credit and make sure i pay bills on time...the problem is i have been in a relationship for 5 years and we want to buy a house but im too scared to apply as i have nothing in legal document under my new name apart from bills,do i have to declare my previous debts, show proof of who i am ie:passport and is there anyway around this as its causing quite a bit of tension in my relationship..many thanks for any advice given0 -
get a credit report done, you don't have to pay for it if you are clever about it http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/credit-rating-credit-score
shows you how.
be honest with it.
if you have remarried then you surely got divorced so I wouldn't worry too much, if you're getting credit now then you should be ok.
