LOOK OUT - Virgin aren't all that nice..

Just thought I would raise this with people who are transferring to virgin credit card for their nice 16month 0% interest to be aware of. I did this 3 months ago and they said that my payment didn't reach them in time and I therefore breached contract and lost the 16 months 0%. Because the payment was 1 day late. they also charged me £12 fee for not paying. now, 2 months later they have put on the interest.

I have just spoken to them and they have 'kindly' put me back on the interest free from next month, but I have to pay the interest this month, so its worth talking to them if this happens to you.

What erks me, is that I made a payment on THE SAME DAY I received my credit card details and the payment due date. I could not have paid it any sooner because I didn't have the details and the payment takes 4 days to clear. I even phoned them to speak to them to say that I knew that it wouldn't have cleared in time. Feel a little swizzled... so look out.

Its like they are trying to catch you out on every corner!

  • I'm glad it has come up - I obviously need to read the forums more as I missed that one...
  • to be fair if you paid on the same day you got your first statement you have a good case and it was resolved ok.

Normally people late and then get stressed. It is clear in your T & C that you lose the deal for paying late. However it seems your case was a bit different. glad you got it sorted.

If you are on a 0% rate ALWAYS set up a direct debit for the minimum amount and then you can overpay as and when

I have DD set up for EVERYTHING.

The above is a good piece of advice. Remember the lender usually sends you confirmation once DD is set up
