I'm sure this thread should be over on the health and beauty board, BUT I think it might be against the rules about giving medical advice and offering remedies. If I remember right there was a thread similar to this on the OS forum which was locked pretty quickly.

My Gran would make up a Grapefruit remedy for colds and flu


Cut up whole grapefruit (rind and fruit) and boil in a couple of pints of water. Boil for 10 mins allow to cool then sive into your mug. Save some to drink cold later.
If you find it's a little bitter add a little sugar — there is something in the grapefruit rind that makes you feel better.
Enjoy as you would a cup of hot tea.
