I Wanna Buy - a new kettle

Our is on it's way out - after over 3 years of good service (including warming baby bottles), it's starting to leak hot water from the base.

It's a Breville Spectra, and replaced a Breville Lightning, as we like the weighting of them (hubby has arthritis, I have carpal tunnel, so we neither have great grips at times).

I am obviously looking at Breville, but I wondered if there were any other makes/models out there worth considering. It needs to be a jug kettle, cordless, with 360degree base.

I have a top budget of £30, although obviously the cheaper the better.

Very happy with our Tesco kettle 3kW

    I think it's this one (£9.73):

there is the breville hot cup

which would probably be ideal for you, but out of your price range, do you have any nectar points you could use to get the price down?

I went to Currys to enquire about the Breville hotcup, even the assistant told me that it really didnt do boiling water, certainly not hot enough for tea and only makes coffee hot but not very hot.

If your kettle is leaking please replace it as soon as possible, water and electricity are lethal and i really mean lethal together.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Thank you all. We've looked at those heater things, but apart from the price, we've also come across the boiling issue - and hubby likes his drinks piping.

The Tesco one looks the right shape in terms of grip/handle - you start to get and idea after a while just by looking - so for that price I think I may give it a go :)

What's it like in terms of boiling time/noise?

Try to get one with as long a waranty as you can. They never seem to last long these days, and it's useful to be able to get them replaced under guarantee.

Go for a 3 or 3.1kW model - there's a big diference in speed between that and the 2.2kW ones
