They go grey because they've been overcooked - plunging them into cold water will help as it gets them cool quicker and stops them from cooking after you've taken them out of the boiling water. I time my eggs for 8 mins from when the water comes to the boil, they are still ever so slightly squidgy in the middle. 9 mins should see you right.0

I think you have to make sure that you don't overcook them in the first place though. I think that you should only boil them for about 6 - 8 minutes and then put them under cold running water until cool. If you overcook them and then put them in cold water you can still get that greeney grey ring thing.Jane
