Endowment, can I claim?

My head is spining on this so can someone please give me a plain answer?
I was sold an endowment mortgage in 1984. Does this mean I am outside the 1988 date everyone seems to be talking about and therefore cannot claim?

Technically, it means you cannot claim. However, some firms/providers have agreed to voluntarily review complaints from before 29th April 1988.
So, the answer is; depends on who gave the advice.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Thanks for that. It was someone in the Halifax. I had my account there so I just walked in and asked about a mortgage. They said if I got an endowment it would pay the mortgage off and give me a nice little sum on top. All finishing when I was 59 - just in time for early retirement :-(
I'll get onto it. Worth a try.0 -
