I have this thing about frozen meat, especially mince. I think I only once used frozen mince ( already frozen ) and remember it was not nice.

I have also frozen fresh mince and again once defrosted just did not tast the same as fresh so never tried it again.

I NEVER freeze fress meat as always fear that once it defrosts it will not taste the same.

Please someone tell me I am wrong lol

Everytime I cook lamb, pork or beef I have previously frozen it's always really tough. i make sure it's defrosted properly but the meal is usually inedible whereas when I use fresh I have no problems. No idea why but chicken and fish (no quite meat but thought I would mention it) I have no problems with.

I tend to like it more once it's cooked.

    Sorry :p

I don't have a problem with any meat that's been frozen in it's raw state. I'm not keen on frozen cooked chicken though - but I'm not sure why :D

    You are wrong:D

I freeze fresh meat all the time and have never noticed anything wrong with it. I buy good quality meat from a good butcher.

I wasn't happy with the mince I'd been freezing from fresh. I bought a pack of frozen mince from Waitrose. Not cheap, but I mix the mince with veg to bulk out so I use only a little at a time. Aslo it has a low fat content. This mince looks and tastes fine when defrosted.

As for frozen meat and cheap meat in general it's great when cooked in a slow cooker. Just defrost & brown the meat first, put it on high in the slow cooker with veg, tinned tomatoes, onion, herbs & seasoning and stock or stock cube and bring to boil. Then turn it down to lower setting and leave for up to 9 hours.

Result is fantastic, meat is dropping off the bone and melts in the mouth.
I think there are many other posts on this forum about how good cheap meat can be when cooked in a slow cooker.
