Been approached by a company called Arise. Will it benefit me?

Someone has suggested that I work for them on a self employed basis. They have their own limited company but work for Arise.
I'm naive and dont know what to do....
Im married and have one child and another on the way, wanted something to do to earn a bit of money but dont want to lose out on my Child Tax credit. Is it guaranteed to be a money earner or not? They told me that I would have to work out my own tax and NI!! Where would I start? Sounds complicated!
Please help, any advise would be appreciated.
