Is it possible to get a mortgage when you have bad credit??

I know that it sounds silly only just wondered as currently renting property and it feels like a waste of money giving it to someone else when it could be paying 4 a place of our own.

Any advice would be good.

Bad credit sounds to me like a short history of having difficulty in dealing with money. Now is a very interesting time to be thinking about buying a property, when the future, especially what will happen with interest rates is so unsure. I think you should try paying the amount needed to service a mortgage of the amount you would require at a rate of interest at 8% into a savings account, assuming you have no debts, and if this is manageable, great, you have a partially saved deposit and are one step closer buying a house.
