How cynical you are, tell that to all the people who've had support and help from someone in a Jobcentre, for everyone that'sps had a bad experience there is someone who has had a good one.

We're neither under staffed or under resourced, some would say quite the opposite. Now when it comes to the legislation that relates to what the Department actually does that's a different matter................
I guess whether you feel the JobCentre does a good job or not depends on personal experience! I was made redundant with 40 colleagues, many of whom have had to use the services of the JobCentre, and ALL of whom have had a good experience.

I am a lone parent and in between leaving university and entering my present job I had a lone parent advisor at the jobcentre. My experience with her was fantastic. I really felt she went the extra mile to help me. She is a long serving employee with the DWP and yet had not become cynical or judgemental. Guess it is just down to the personality of the individual. A decent person will stay a decent person.
I am now hoping to work for the DWP myself. Waiting on checks coming back after one interview for AO position and I have an EO interview next week. The job I am in just now has no security and even if the DWP only offer me a 12 month contract I am going for it.
Congrats on getting the job offer:T

I started as a 'casual' AA in a jobcentre in 1993 after signing on for 6 months.

Somehow my unwillingness to help people, my laziness, poor timekeeping and general disinterest was recognised by my superiors and was an EO within 2 1/2 years.

I quickly tired of my sucess and left in 1997.

I'll never forget my course on dealing with what is now termed 'challenging behaviour'.
