  • How about a Spag bol with quorn mince.. then you don't have to make 2 separate meals.

A lot of people say they don't like quorn mince, but if you add can chopped tomatoes, or chop up a tin of cheaper plumb tomatoes, Worcester sauce, dried herbs and some tomato puree you can't tell the difference, and i am not a veggie.

Make some extra Bol and you can freeze it for another meal in jacket tat or for another spag bol meal or make a lasagne with it.

Buy a baguette, can get on for 30p and make own garlic butter, this too can be frozen for future use and the butter if you make too much. :)

I make a big pan of spag bol sauce up and freeze it in portions, i can get at least 4-5 decent portions out of it as i pack it with onions and mushrooms which i buy the frozen bags and are very cheap and quick. and there is enough for a decent 6 portion lasagne if i use for that.

ok - have bought sharwoods medium egg noodles (the dried ones) and some egg fried rice that you heat in the micro - also got some mushrooms, broccoli, bean sprouts and some baby sweetcorn and some chicken breasts and packet of cashew nuts - which i had in store cupboard also bought a packet of sharwoods chow mein sauce (50p - i think)
marinating the chicken in soy sauce, olive oil, garlic and some white wine - all of which i had in store cupboard
later on i will stir fry chicken on its own and the mushrooms, sweetcorn and cashnew nuts on their own - steam broccoli for a few mins then add to the stir fry veg along with a handful of cashew nuts stir for a few mins
    micro the rice
drop the noodles into some boiling water and cook as per packet - i then stir fry them in some soy sauce - i put chicken into a casserole dish and veg into another dish
serve onto warm plates the noodles and rice and let everyone help themselves to chicken and veg
you can also buy some prawn crackers if you like but not sure how much you want to spend
    hope you like this:D
for pudding check in the reduced cabinet at the supermarket for something yummy and sweet!

Great recipe but with turkey its even cheaper.

My kids made a vegetarian stir fry and I make it a lot, fry your chicken/turkey seperately and add a little soy to it, serve mothers and then add meat last. Though its so much cheaper meat free.
I fry up strips peppers carrot mushooms celery, onion and courgettes, this changes if there is any reduced veg like baby sweetcorn, mange tout, fine green beans. I add crushed garlic last minute and bean sprouts.
Add half a pt of veg stock and a glug of soy, cook for a while and leave until folks arrive. Cook noodles and add as you heat it through.
