I wanna: Learn To Drive For FREE

hi
as a instructor i thought i would put my thoughts on this subjecy...
The main problem with BSM is you dont know how good the instructor that you get will be. some of the instructors are as good as you will find anywhere else but others are either trainee instructors or just qualified. BSM charge a lot in franchise to their instructors but are very good for training so lots of instructors train with them then move on to other schools.
£15.50 is a lot to be spending in deals as most areas (prob other than london) you should be able to find an experienced instructor for not much more in old fashioned money (and then spend the deals on something more fun!).
No pupil should have to go more than 5 or 10 minutes for them to be able to drive for the first few lessons. there is no point driving further to get to the test areas as you have plenty of time once the pupil can drive to get used to an area and also there is more to learning then just going round the same routes till you get used to the roads!
cotsvalue - it sounds like your instructor is from a different area and doesnt know your area so took your daughter back to an area he knew best, again another reason to keep local.
hope that helps best way to get a instructor is ask friends and get recomendations.0 -
Is it me or does the Tesco/BSM deal seem like a really bad deal. It's either £15.50 in tokens (that's £62 worth of deals) or £60 in tokens (£240 worth in deals) for 6 lessons plus books etc, that's £40/lesson, that's twice what you'd pay in cash!
I'd spend them on something more worthwhile like a holiday, or a present off buyagift. Unless you bought 20000 packs of beef in gravy, in which case I guess you can't spend them quick enough!

I agree that the BSM deal is not as great as some of the other Clubcard deals, but I wouldn't call it a really bad deal.

If you want to buy driving lessons anyway, why not spend £60 in vouchers on something useful? Especially if you live down South where lessons cost an arm and a leg (£25/hour where we are )...
It's horses for courses really. I'm not interested in the other Clubcard deals at the moment, so this one suited me perfectly. :cool:0 -
How much does BSM normally cost per lesson? I went on the website, and it said save £10 on 10 hours of lessons, I've been learning over the past 3 years and i really need to get my butt back in gear.Debt Free - Go Me

The prices depend on where you live, London and the South being the most expensive. I'm in Hampshire and here it's £25 an hour (£24 if you book a block of 10), but in other parts of the country it must be closer to £20.Haushinka wrote:How much does BSM normally cost per lesson? Have another look on their website, there must be a search facility there that will tell you how much it is where you are!
EDIT: found it HERE
(And yes, I know all about it taking years to learn to drive!

I've been very happy with BSM, but as always, everyone's experiences are different.Haushinka wrote:Have BSM got a good pass rate? I want to get with the best driving school and just knock out a load of lessons and just get my test done asap. Im so tired of buses and trains!
Try and find some recommendations for driving schools in your area, or have a look on this forum I discovered yesterday: http://www.learners.me.uk/, there's a lot of info there about learning to drive and you might find something about instructors/schools in your area.
