Just called them as i need help A.S.A.P. and was told they cant speak to me until the 5th of may ????
i realise they are a charity and so very busy but what happend to my credit bills this month when i cant pay the full ammount ???
ive already spoken to Paypal and they reccomended i do a DMP but it was to last for 15 years which 15 years with only very basic money is a very very long time especially seeing as we are trying to start a family,
i just wanted to see what the CCCS would recomend i do regarding my debts but just getting to speak to them is 20 days away
just feel like im back to square 1 again and feel rock bottom

Hi Matt
How about doing the Debt Remedy online? At the end of this it gives you an idea of how long it will take to pay off your debts and also recommends how you should proceed (ie DMP or IVA etc).
I did it online and it all proceeded very quickly. Am starting my DMP on 1st May. Started the whole process at the end of March, so just over three weeks to get the whole thing set up.
Good luck.

Hi Wos, thank you for replying, i did the online thing and it recomended a IVA for me, thing is under the debtors payment bit for a natwest CC for instance it says contractual payment which i presume is the minimum payment ?
well its got that down as £300 whereas its actually only £223 a month but i couldnt find anywhere to ammend that ?
what do i do about that ? or have they put the higher fig in for a reason ?

Sorry Matt, not sure. I too thought the contractual payment was the minimum amount you pay each month. Can you click into the box and amend by backspacing over the amount?
Maybe post the same question on the thread at the top of the page - questions for a cccs counsellor. Hopefully they will repond shortly.

I have seen it suggested on here that whilst waiting to set up an DMP or IVA through one of the charities if you can't afford the full amount for this months debts then you should send a token payment of £5 or even £1 to each creditor saying you are in the process of setting up an arrangement with CCCS or Payplan and you will be in touch again shortly. It will buy you some time (though you may get calls/letters in the meantime but simply reply that you are setting it up and to contact you again in a month)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Your option in the meantime is to make token payments of £1 or more to each of your creditors and write to them saying that you are contacting CCCS for advice on your financial situation and you will let them know when you have had further advice from CCCS.
The token payment is just to show that you aren't hiding from your debt but are making little payments to all while you try and sort it all out.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Is it a Credit card that the online remedy is automatically filling in a contractual payment or an overdraft. When I did my online remedy it automatically filled in for my O/D, but I was able to manually enter all the Cr Card fields. Maybe just check to see that you have it in as a cc (if it is a cc) and not an O/D.
Payplan and CCCS are very similar in the service that they provide and to be honest it Payplan say it'll take you 15 yrs then I would assume that CCCS timescale will be pretty similar.
We are on a DMP with CCCS (just started) and have about 17 years til we're all paid up:eek::eek:. I used to be quite hung up on the timescales, but now I realise that 17 years is a long time and lots of things can happen in that time to reduce the term. The best advise I can give is to not set your budget too tight, you have to be realistic with what you can live on for the forseeable future (even if it does wack your DFD years away.)
Please stay positive, you're in the right place and we're all here to support you through this tough time.
Let us know if you manage to change the payment for natwest.
Take care

I would like to know why aswell, as i pay £130 a month for a credit card and they automaticaly put in £153.
So why is it they worked out that i would have to pay more amonth on credit card/s yet reduce the payments on a loan/s
Is there a reason for this?0 -
