Wasn't interest "massively up" (according to EAs) around the turn of the year which translated to a mortgage increase of 4% in Feb?
Anyway, what are you up to - making housey posts in the housey forum, pretty bad form IMHO...0 -

RICS are saying interest is up slightly but sales are still only 1/3 of 2007 levels.....still a long way to go..
sensible mortgages are available but sensible mortgages are not enough to buy a sensible house. It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Interest may be up, but that doesn't mean that sales are. Many people may be interested to buy something but that doesn't mean that they are in a position to do so. It's the figures for actual sales we need to watch.0

I remember now why i don't use the sky news website
The housing market survey by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors revealed 10% more surveyors reported a rise in enquiries rather than a fall.
10%! wow, 10 surveyors to 11?.
They need to back it up with proper figures.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -

It should transfer to sales in 3-5 months.
Sales have actually been slightly improving for a few months but still at low volumes.
So those would be from inquiries the start of this year, presumably when they started to say inquiries went up.0 -

good point I know some people who are just looking round houses and estate agents just to be be nosy and to wind them up, yet they have no intention of buying until next year at the earliest. I might be interested in buying if the same houses were up for sale when the bottom is reached, if not then I will just buy a different house for less.0
