Home based full time employee - tax claims?

A friend of mine said today that as a "home based" employee I am eligible to claim tax relief on this but I'm not sure if this is correct or not? I am employed full time, the head office is in Cheltenham, the Head Quarters are in Belfast and I'm in Newcastle upon Tyne. I work from home a minimum of 2 days per week, work provide me with a mobile phone and they pay my broadband and my phoneline, so what else can I claim for? I have to buy some office furniture too as I currently don't have a desk etc due to space constraints but I'm in the process of buying a house and the smallest bedroom will become my office.

If your contract states that you have to work from home, then you can claim a deduction for the use of a room at home. the statndard rate is £3pw, but if you can justify more in terms of the cost of utility bills, then you can claim more.
