my friend has a woolwich mortgage for £31,000 .
He is on the SVR .He is paying £162 per month .Still has 19 years to pay .
House is worth around £100,000
Is this the best option for him .He dosent want to pay £999 fees to move .

With small mortgages fees can make most deals not worth moving to even with 19y to go.
Getting onto a long term good rate is the key(another example of making sure the follow on rate of any fix is a good one)
There may be some deals worth considering but the best thing they can do to reduce the overall cost of the mortgage is to take advantage of the current low rates and overpay.0
