Foreign Lodger wants a bank account with my address

I've got a romanian dude staying with me as a lodger and he was asking if he could use my address to get a bank account.
Is this dodgy with regards to him taking out credit, defaulting and giving me a black mark against my address or am I worrying about nothing?

sound legitimate to me, If he needs a bank account the bank needs to know his home address which I presume if your place

Well call me a synic but personally i wouldn't go for it.

I work in fraud investigation and maybe i have been tainted by what i have seen !!

I'm sure this guy is a genuine and honest individual but can you say the same for all his friends. the culture which permeats society within romania is one of corruption and dishonesty (i can say that from 1st hand experience having friends from romania and having visited on numerous occassions)

Before you all shoot me down in flames i am not saying this guy is dishonest just that i personally wouldn't be over keen. To be fair at least he has had the decency to ask, he could have just gone ahead and you would have been none the wiser. I guess you have to trust your gut instincts but if you say no how do you know he wont use it anyway???

It wouldn't worry me - after all he'll only be telling the truth...that he lives with you, as long as you dont sign/act as guarantor or give him your date of birth or get a joint account you should be fine.
