should I register as self-employed?

I got a £10 amazon voucher nearly 3 months ago from valued opinions – is this enough for me to need to sign up as self-employed?
I also do;
slice-the-pie --£5.50 I haven't cashed that out yet
pureprofile --total £2.50ish – am on course to cash out in about 10 years?:rotfl:
I've signed up for a few other things and mostly forgotten about them and not gotten any £, Quidco, Dooyoo
I also have a couple of p/t jobs;
one is cash in hand ( was declared to the IR a few years ago on a p90 (?)form which they sent to me)
and
the other has tax deducted and comes with payslips (I'm not earning enough to pay tax, so I'll be wanting to claim the tax back from this job anyway.)
I'm also thinking of signing up for mystery shopping, maybe I should just do that now? - (then I'll have to be self-employed anyway I think?)

I am also thinking about whether I need to do this as I am registered to lots of survey websites, cashback sites and am just about to start mystery shopping...0

I'm nearing the deadline, so I think I'm going to sign up to mystery shopping and thus become self-employed anyway:j0

Being registered self employed can save you paying so much tax. I do a bit of mystery shopping, work for a company who signs people up for financial services and dabble in MLM. I also have a "proper job." I registered as self employed and claim against tax for the use of my broadband, landline & mobile phone and car use. I earn less than £4825.00 per year from these efforts and by filling out a Form CF10 I do not have to pay self employed person's National Insurance contributions. I use Taxcalc to work out my tax and submit it online. It costs me just under £20 per year for the software and I also claim that against tax. I need a printer for the mystery shopping questionnaires & finance paperwork and so claim paper and printer ink against tax too. If you speak to somebody in your local tax office, they can be really helpful.novamation wrote: »is this enough for me to need to sign up as self-employed?The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

I signed up as self employed last year and the tax man is still bothering me even though i never made a penny with my own business!
It's a hassle I wished i never had to deal with, most councils have a phone number so you can chat to someone about it all. How'd you make money with surveys etc?

OK. Next question:D, do I have to register as self-employed again for doing multiple things, like if I start trying to sell stuff on online shops.... or will the original registering do?0

If you are already registered as self employed then you don't need to register again if you start another business.novamation wrote: »OK. Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd add my question to this thread.
Have you registered as self employed if you're just doing surveys? I know Martin recommends you do, but seeing as I'm struggling to get £10 a quarter at the moment (doing just valued opinions), it seems like overkill.MFW #66 - £4800 target0 -
I would suggest only registering as self-employed as soon as your activity generates enough income to maintain your lifestyle.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
