    Thanks Ian,

    I'll try and find someone who has dealt before - as you say it will save much time and there may be a loophole. I couldnt find anything on the HMRC site either.

    I understand that if you are in the Forces and have a house but never live in it as you occupy quarters, then that property is by default your PPR and therefore you are not liable for CGT whether or not you have rented it out.

    Thanks Breezy, have discovered this, just waiting to hear from the tax inspector how long I am exempt for from the time of having to nominate my main residence.
