Removal of unwarranted"Outstanding Debt" searches

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could possibly offer any advice on the following. I recently tried to purchace a mobile phone contract and was refused credit. I have never had any credit, at all, with anyone and was told that this was almost certainly the reason I had been refused. The assistant in the store helpfully suggested I also take a look at my credit file to see if there was anything negative on it and I duly did this with Equifax. On my credit report there is little or no information other than in the electoral roll information and my bank account. However, I was absolutely aghast to see that there are two very worrying entries on the report in the "Table 1 : Credit Searches" section. These being:

28/01/2008 "Outstanding Debt " Thames Credit Limited
13/10/2008 "Outstanding Debt" Cnm Ltd

As I have said, I have never had credit for anything in my life and I have never even heard of either of these companies. What on earth can I do about this? Surly it can't be legal to search someones credit report and enter this kind of information!? Can I get these removed and if so how would I go about this? Any help would be much appreciated as I am both confused and concerned by these unjustified entries on my credit report.

Kind regards,

Fraser.
