you might be best in the disability and dosh thread and i think that each county is different0

It depends totally on his disability.
My husband has a C for companion on his pass so i or anyone with him travels free, his is visually impaired.
You need to apply/write to the body who issued him with the pass.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Some Councils etc have a 'plus one' scheme which gives free access to places if you are accompanying a disabled person. This normally includes bus travel and entry to certain places.
Might be worth a phone call to your local council.0 -
Yep ask your council they have different criteria i think, my husband has a card just for him as he gets low rate DLA, my son has a +1 card (so i travel free with him) as he's on middle rate care."Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called medical research"

Companion Entitlement
If your mobility is such that you require to be accompanied when travelling, you can apply for a National Entitlement Card containing the companion entitlement (C+1) to allow a companion travel free of charge with you for the same journey by bus.
You will qualify for the companion entitlement if you receive the higher or middle rate of the care component of Disability Living Allowance; or you receive Attendance Allowance; or you are registered blind; or you live in a care or residential home and eligible to receive the higher or middle rate of the care component Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance.
You will be required to provide a copy of an award notice from the Department of Work and Pensions dated within the last 12 months or a copy of your blind registration certificate.
Your companion can vary from journey providing they board and alight the bus at the same locations as you.
There is no need for you to be accompanied on all bus journeys you make as you have the choice of whether to travel alone or have someone travel with you.
Your companion must be over the age of 5 years.

Surely if you need a compainon then they should be old enough to take responsability form themselfs 1st before taking on the responsability of someone else! I am sure i wouldn't allow my 10 yr old neice or 5 yr old newphew to be a compainion to someone that was unable to use the bus for themselfs. This really needs looking!!!!!!0 -
