Job interview with Sky

Hi, First time poster, long time lurker here!
I thought it's about time I signed up after using the site quite a lot over the last few years. Anyway, today I've had a telephone interview with Sky for the role of Sales Advisor taking incoming calls at their new Leeds contact centre. I've been offered an interview and I'm attending a selection day this Wednesday. (A little short notice?) I was wondering if anyone here has had an interview with Sky before, either successful or unsuccessful and if anyone can give me an idea of what to expect? They said there would be a one on one interview and a role play situation, can anyone elaborate?
Thank you

Hi JThompson
I saw your post that you did a while ago and wondered how you got on with your interview.
I have the same interview tomorrow  and hoped that you could point me in the right direction.
Many Thanks0 -

If you google sky interview or something similar you may get some answers,
Good luck with the interview.
Maybe you could come back & say what it was like & how you got on.0 -
Don't hold your breath for a reply as they only came on the forum once to ask that question.

I had an interview for their new centre in stockport and I was there for nearly 3 hours.
It is in 4 stages: a welcome session, a maths test, a face to face interview and then a roll play.
The welcome session goes over what it's like working for Sky, the perks of the job and what the role involves.
The maths test is one of those type you used to do in school - multiple choice questions where you shade an answer in the box.
The face to face interview is standard as most jobs - they ask you why you wish to work for the company, asking about overcoming objections and times where you provided good customer service etc.
Finally, the part that definitely stumped me - the roll play. I feel this is what they are looking for most - your skills at overcoming objections - I personally found it a bit overwhelming and I'm normally quite good in these situations but because there was so much information that you had to use and prepare with, I found it hard. You get 20 mins whilst the interviewer goes out the room for you to read over the sheets of information about the products and services that Sky offer and also 3 scenario questions. You then have to write up a plan of what you're likely to offer and say on the call and then the interviewer comes back and you carry out the roll play.
All the best with it, hope you get the job!0 -
The vast majority of the Sky customer service ops that I have spoken to have been smug, rude and extremely patronising and sarcastic.
Sky just seems to let it happen.0 -

I applied for sky a couple of years ago. I didn't get in; failing at the role-play. I went for a technical support position, but the role play was geared specifically towards seeing how good candidates were at upselling more channel packages rather than their ability to solve customers' faults.
So if you've ever torn your hair out at the ineptitude of a sky tech-support operator, now you know. They don't appear to want people who have the skills to troubleshoot problems and talk customers through getting their equipment working. It seems that they'd rather have somebody who is technically clueless but has the gift of the gab to talk some poor customer into a larger monthly direct debit either through a service plan, or more channels.0 -
I had a (successful) Sky interview about 5 years ago, from memory we had to sit through a 20 min presentation, have a group discussion about a topic within the presentation, have a face-to-face interview and then sell them the interviewer a random object (mines was a biro). This was for outbound sales though but 3 months into the job I was moved to inbound sales team as they were short-staffed and no alot of difference really. The focus is very much on selling and in inbound our conversion rate target was really high.

Hello,
Can I have more information on the maths test. I know its multiple choice like it used to be in school but what is based around...fractions, percentages and etc?
Thanks
