Cleaning carpet before bubs

my living room carpet could really do with a freshen up/clean before my son is born but i do have a carpet machine and i cant really get on my hand and knees and scrub in my condition i was just thinking of that vanish carpet foam stuff but it would be really expensive so ive turned to you lovely lot ...
any tips??? x

Leave it for a while as DS will soon mess it up again for you! Or could you get someone else (OH for example) to give it a quick clean with the machine ?

i just would like to give it a spring clean as i have a dog and a DD as it is and although i hoover it alot its not smelling its best

bicarbonate of soda sprinkled on the carpet then hoovered up after a few hours is meant to be good?:A :j0

when we do my friends carpet we make up some spray bottles with some cheap oxy clean powder mixed with luke warm water spray the carpet and then give it good hoover when it is dried this seems to lift the dirt and smells.
the stuff seems to fizz up on the carpet but dries quickly into powder again lifting the marks with it0
