No. Any store (of any kind) with a floorspace over 20,000 sq ft isn't allowed to open.0

Short answer.......No!
By law they are all prevented from opening today

Yes, all the supermarkets were closed today except for one small Coop and my local Poundland. I guess the day a Poundland is closed, the end of the world is nigh. I bought a 1.5 kilo bag of granulated sugar there. Pretty good value for a quid. Did anybody see a closed Poundland today? I walked past a Card Factory shop (closed) that advertised 8 handmade Easter cards for a quid. Perhaps a post-Easter sale?0

I work in a shop that's over that size and we were open normal Sunday opening hours yesterday. The owner says that as he's not religious why should he abide by stupid laws that are based in religion!!! He's a bit of a maverick to put it mildly, he only went over to Sunday hours a couple of years ago when the powers that be threatened to come down on him. And put lots of notices up about stupid Sunday opening laws!! But nobody's told him off about opening on Easter Sunday - yet! I think he just enjoys seeing how long he can thumb his nose at the authorities.
Does anyone actually police these things anyway?0
