Mobile phone contract

Hi
I have a mobile phone on contract with T-mobile. I want to change it to a PAYG for obvious financial reasons!!
I rang T mobile and they said I was tied into the contract until June. Is there any way I can get out of this earlier without spending any more money? (I am paying £30 a month)

Also I took out an insurance policy for the phone with carphone warehouse. I pay £27 a quarter - I want to cancel this too - do you think I can do this straight away or will I need to give them notice or will I be tied into this too? I cant find the contract at the moment -
