Making a one-off pension contribution

I should also point out, re: the likelihood of going back into the pension scheme, that I contributed to the pension for three months when I first joined, and have not had any money re-funded to me since opting out... if that makes any difference.

You will have deferred benefits then. Make sure you link them when you rejoin the scheme.

I don't see any problem with rejoining from the link I have just given you.0 -
Mind you, in the Cancelling Membership FAQ, I found the following:
Can I re-join the Scheme after cancelling my membership?
If you want to re-join the Scheme you will need to speak to your employer, and they will tell you if this is possible. If it is, they will give you a form to fill in, and will arrange for pension contributions to be taken from the date you re-join.
Maybe they just phrase it that way to cover themselves? But I don't know...0 -
Only way to find out is ask at work.0

Yep. Fingers crossed. No one said at the time that I wouldn't be allowed back in, but it's not necessarily in their interests to, is it
And besides, rules could have changed in the meantime.
God, I hate it when I need to ask someone something and I have to stew on it!0 -

I left the Teachers' scheme for around 5 years when I left teaching to bring up my children. I joined again when I went back to teaching.0 -
Well that bodes well, anyway. How recent was that? I suppose the only thing against me is how quickly final salary pension plans are disappearing these days.0

I left in 1984 and rejoined in 1991 so not very recent I'm afraid.
Go into work tomorrow and start the ball rolling.0 -
Hope restored!
